Daniel Côté Sensei, 3rd dan
Daniel Côté Sensei began his Yōseikan practice in 1992 at the University of Ottawa while studying computer science. From his very first clinic with Patrick Augé Shihan, he was deeply inspired by the authenticity of the path and the rigour of instruction.
Since then, he has regularly taken part in clinics and intensive seasonal camps — kangeiko (winter) and shochugeiko (summer). The latter, known as Yōseicamp, is led by Sensei Augé and stands out as a highlight of the year for deepening one’s practice.
In September 2004, Daniel began teaching at the Aikidō club at the University of Ottawa, initially as an assistant, and later taking over the morning classes starting in May 2005.
Today, he holds the rank of 3rd dan black belt from the International Yōseikan Budō Federation (IYBF) and currently shares teaching responsibilities with Mario Forget Sensei at the Aikidō School of Gatineau. He also oversees pedagogy at the Aikidō club at the University of Ottawa.
Daniel emphasizes a strong technical and spiritual foundation, along with methodical development, guiding students with clarity, patience, and respect for each person’s pace.
